Text Box: STROLLER BOOT CAMP...
If you're a mom looking for motivation to get in shape, this is your opportunity!  This month we have a group meeting on Thursday afternoons at the Irvington Community Park and on Sunday mornings at Lake Elizabeth.
Starting in June and for the summer months, we will only be offering the Sunday morning class at the Lake.  The Sunday class is great to bring dads and older siblings to (at no additional charge).  It's fun for the whole family!

Text Box: Happy Mother's Day!
Text Box: MOM...YOU ARE IMPORTANT ENOUGH...
You make breakfast, feed the pet, start a load of laundry, make snacks, rush the kids to school, run errands, clean the house, pick up the kids from school, do homework, play with your kids, start dinner, do more laundry - and don't forget about those school activities, summer programs, mommy groups, doctor's appointments, caring for your sick kids - even when you're sick...and, perhaps you have a "job" outside of the home or even a "side job" from home, whew!  Then you've got bath/bedtime routines, although, I hope you're fortunate enough to have a husband who does this, but some of you may be single moms, or you may feel like a single mom, especially if your spouse works late or travels.
The highlight of it all - if you're lucky enough to have a babysitter - then you might get a "date night" once a month with your husband.  Moms are so busy these days - and the Stay at Home Mom is hardly a "Stay-At-Home" Mom...it's more like "On-the-Go" Mom.
Mother's often give so much of themselves and their time to their children and families that they often don't feel that there's any time or energy left to take care of themselves.  There's a reason why the airlines recommend that you put your oxygen mask on before attending to your child's.
Well, this is the time of year that is set aside for moms to be honored, pampered and appreciated.  Motherhood is quite a lot of work, especially if you have more than one child.  And, although it's great to celebrate Mother's Day once a year, I encourage you moms to find an outlet that allows you to take better care of yourself throughout the whole year.
Some moms find their outlet by scrapbooking, exercising, mom support groups or getting pedicures & massages.  The key question to ask yourself is "why haven't I done those things that I know are good for me"?  Most often the answer lies in the reasoning that your needs are not a priority.  This may seem noble and humble, but the truth is moms who take care of themselves are much better moms with much more to give.  As a matter of fact, each time you take those moments to do something to care for yourself, you are role modeling to your son or daughter the importance of them taking care of themselves as well.
Of course I believe exercise is an excellent way to demonstrate love for ourselves.  Exercising helps to take care of our physical self - by decreasing the risk of health related illnesses, our emotional self - by releasing endorphins & giving more energy, and let's face it...we might even start looking better in our clothes too - particularly that little piece of lingerie that our husbands would love to see us in again.  Give yourself at least 30 min. a few times a week and your family will see the difference.  If you can't fit in 30 minutes, just do a few minutes of exercise whenever you can fit it in throughout the day.
(need help? - I can design a home workout program just for the busy mom!)   More Details
